All of the officers’ contact information can be found here in the contact tab.

MEDICAL WAIVER & TEAM POLICIES- You need to bring your medical insurance card with you to your first practice. You must fill out and sign the sports club waiver before you will be allowed to sail . A team officer will have the wavers with them so you do not need to print anything out. You must have your insurance card with you to fill out this form. If you do not have medical insurance please contact our vice president Tina Nassehi before your first practice.

After the first two weeks of practice the waivers will be submitted to the athletic department. If you cannot make it to practice in the first two weeks contact and arrange to meet our captain Sam before September 18th so you can fill out and sign the waiver.

Make sure to review our team policies which can be found under the members tab so that you are familiar with them. If you do not know the members tab password see above.

DUES- Dues are 50 dollars per semester and are due after the second practice you attend. Cash or checks made payable to UMBC Sailing Club Sports Team If you decide that you no longer wish to sail with us after attending two practices you are not obligated to pay dues. If you do wish to continue sailing you need to bring 50 dollars cash or check with you to the third practice you attend. Once you have paid dues you will be added to the team roster and will be allowed to sign up for regattas.

NON COMPETITIVE MONDAY PRACTICES- Monday practices will be for members new to sailing or who do not wish to sail in a competitive format. No experience is required and these practices are designed to give those who are new to sailing an opportunity to learn how to sail in a relaxed setting. All sailors will have the chance to skipper and crew and although there will be some instruction, the focus will be to get out on the water and luff around.

Monday practices will start at 430pm and end before dusk. If you cannot stay the full time you can leave early as long as you can provide your own transportation. We practice out of Annapolis Sailing School (click for google map directions) and will be meeting in the parking lot on the picnic tables near the large boat slip. WEAR CLOSED TOED SHOES- the parking lot is gravel and is part of a working marina. If you do not have your own coast guard approved PFD you will be provided with one. We will be sailing the same FJs used on friday race practices.

To sign up for Monday practices you need to add your name to the Monday Practice Schedule google doc. There are a limited number of boats so do not add your name if there is not a spot for it. The practice schedule is accessible under the members tab. If you do not know how to access the members tab see above.

COMPETITIVE FRIDAY PRACTICES- Friday practices are professionally coached and are designed to prepare skippers and crews for inter-collegiate regattas. You will be expected to arrive at Annapolis Sailing School promptly at 1pm and have your boat rigged and be ready to sail by 130. Practices will last approximately 4 hours and you will be expected to stay the entire time unless given prior permission. You must bring a waterproof watch and wear closed toed shoes. Friday practices are for disciplined sailors eager to improve their racing skills and are not open to new members unless given permission from Sam, our team captain.
